Cause of Death: Prisoner of war drowned after a Japanese ship was attacked by American bombers

Date of Death: 12-1944

Military Branch: Civilian Employee of the Army's Adjutant General's Corps. Browning had been taken prisoner by the Japanese and held captive at the POW camp Cabanatuan in the Phillipines. He had been on the Imperial Japanese Navy "hell ship" the Arisan Maru when it was attacked by American bombers (Source: World War II Prisoners of War Data File, The National Archives)
